Amy has experience in evaluating and treating articulation and phonology issues, receptive and expressive language delays, and oral-motor and feeding disorders in children and adults. She has worked in a variety of settings, including inpatient rehabilitation for traumatic brain injury, skilled nursing facilities, pediatric private practices, and inpatient psychiatrics. She has worked exclusively with children with feeding and swallowing disorders at Carolina Pediatric Dysphagia for almost 3 years. She is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association special interest divisions (13) Swallowing/swallowing disorders and (14) Communication disorders and sciences in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Populations. These special interest divisions provide networking and information regarding the latest in research and clinical issues.

Previously Cindy worked for the Wilson County School System as well as in a couple of rehabilitation practices, one of which was based in the child?s natural environment. She treated patients with a variety of diagnoses, including orthopedic issues and neurological, psychological and/or behavioral disorders. Her work at PTA has been similarly extensive, and is heavily based in sensory integration dysfunction. Cindy's continuing education experiences have been equally extensive, as she is a Balametrics Practitioner, an Infant, Toddler and Family Specialist, and is certified in Therapeutic Listening. Other continuing education experiences cover everything from weight training and Crisis Intervention Training, to the Handwriting Without Tears program. Cindy's parrot Sysco and aquarium with various aquatic life also join her during therapy sessions. |

Gerry has been the director since 1987, and has practiced pediatric physical therapy since graduating from the Physical Therapy Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1976. Gerry worked with prematurely born infants in the Wake NICU and SICU for over ten years and provided infant assessments for a research project looking at environmental contaminants in human breast milk. The project was coordinated by the National Institute of Health (NIH). She also assisted with writing a grant targeted to provide parent education during the administration of the Bayley II developmental assessment scales. Gerry?s many areas of special training include advanced pediatric assessment and treatment, including the administration of the Brazelton Scales, the Bayley Scales of Infant Development and Sensory Integration Assessment Tools, the evaluation and fabrication of custom molded seating systems, splints and orthotics, splinting and casting, healthcare administration, and clinical management.

She worked 10 years in the hospital setting (WakeMed and Vanderbilt Medical Center) providing feeding evaluations and treatment in the NICU, PICU, special care follow up clinics and on the pediatric floor. After starting or re-organizing feeding Clinics in the hospital, she started Carolina Pediatric Dysphagia in 1996. Mary Hampton has worked in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient therapy in our office and inpatient therapy in several residential facilities for adults, adolescents, and pediatrics. She has experience working with infants and children with a variety of diagnoses including developmental disabilities, autism, neuromuscular disorders, prematurity, and genetic conditions. Her special interest and clinical expertise is in the area of pediatric orthopedics.

Nancy enjoys partnering with families and children to ensure the child is reaching his/her communication potential.

Stacey received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Temple University in 1988 and returned to Temple to obtain her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology in 1997. Prior to joining Pediatric Therapy Associates in September 2006, Stacey worked for agencies in the Philadelphia, PA and southern New Jersey areas that specialize in services for birth-to-3 and preschool populations, including The Easter Seal Society of Southeastern PA and The Center for Autistic Children. Stacey has also served as Clinical Coordinator of Early Intervention Opportunities in Philadelphia, where she chaired citywide tasks forces for early literacy and speech-language standards of practice. Her experience includes working with children with a range of disabilities, from moderate to profound. Stacey's areas of extensive work include children with language disorders, speech disorders, hearing loss and oral-motor dysfunction.

She then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to earn her Master of Science in Speech Pathology in 1993. Stuart has worked in a variety of settings including schools, preschools, clinic based, and home environments. She has experience evaluating and treating children with a wide range of diagnoses including developmental delay, post traumatic syndrome, shaken baby syndrome, apraxia, Down syndrome, hearing impairment, failure to thrive, traumatic brain injury, phonological disorders, language delays, articulation disorders, and autism. In addition, literacy is an area in which Stuart has particular interest and expertise.

She has always practiced in the realm of pediatrics with particular emphasis on neuromuscular disorders, genetic conditions, developmental disabilities, pediatric orthopedics, and brachial plexus. She is credentialed as an Infant Toddler and Family Specialist. T.R. has particular interest and expertise in pediatric orthotic design and fabrication, neuromuscular diagnoses to include cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, arthrogryposis and other genetic conditions. T.R specializes in brachial plexus injuries and adaptive equipment. She has a particular interest in fitness and wellness for children with and without special needs. She considers herself an advocate for community programs and inclusion for children with special needs.

She received her Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech Language & Hearing Association in 2001. Traci has treated many types of speech and language disorders in areas such as receptive and expressive language, articulation, voice, and fluency. She also has experience with children diagnosed with behavioral/emotional disorders, cognitive impairments, autism, apraxia of speech, and Down syndrome. Her previous employment with the public school system provided her with a wide variety of work experience with children from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade, as well as parent counseling/education and training.
