This project is under the supervision of Vicki Mercer, faculty member in the Division of Physical Therapy in the UNC School of Medicine. She and other researchers are looking for 5 children who have Down Syndrome, have started walking in the last 6 months, and can walk without the use of a walker or other assistive device. These children will be evaluated during one visit, to determine how they will respond to requests for them to walk over what appears to be a hole (but is really just the floor). Their reactions will be compared to children of the same age who do not have Down Syndrome.
