Vail Bed Retrofit Notice
Date: 08/18/2003

The following is an urgent retrofit warning by Vail Products, Inc., maker of the Vail Bed. It was passed on to TelAbility by a parent in our community and is the entire text of the letter she received.

Vail Products, Inc.

URGENT FIELD RETROFIT

In order to minimize entrapment zones, those being areas of slack around the mattress, Vail Products, Inc has designed and manufactured a new side rail and end rail system to fit all Vail 2000 models and 1000 models produced before July 25th 2002. If you have received this letter your Vail Bed falls under this category. Please contact Vail Products immediately at 1-800-695-5861 after this letter is received to make shipping arrangements.

The new side rail attachments, when retrofitted to your existing side rails, will hold the vinyl canopy against the mattress creating a tighter fit. The new head and foot rails will replace the foam bolster to fill the area between the mattress and the canopy at the head and foot of the bed. It is the responsibility of the user to install these new systems. Full directions for the installation of the side rail attachment and head and foot rails will be included with your shipment. If you have any difficulty in the installation of the system or have any questions about the installation instructions you can contact Joylyn McGee at 1-800-695-5861. We want you to be completely satisfied with our product. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding the Vail Bed we would like to hear from you.

Please remember that the use of side rails and new end rails is recommended at all times to eliminate gaps between the canopy cover and the mattress. The bed's side rails and end rails should not be used as a substitute for the fully zipped sides of the canopy cover. Vail Enclosed Beds are not a substitute for good care. Patients must continue to be regularly supervised by caregivers at all times even when securely placed in the bed.

We look forward to hearing from you soon. Please feel free to call us at anytime with your suggestions and concerns.

Sincerely,
Jon Klotz
Chief Operation Officer
