Polyethylene glycol powder (MiraLax?, Glycolax?)

COMMON USES:
Occasional constipation.

HOW IT'S SUPPLIED:
Powdered form to be mixed with any liquid.

HOW IT WORKS:
Softens stools by keeping water from being absorbed from digested food as it travels through the body.

THINGS TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR DOCTOR:
* Usually taken once a day in the morning.
* Can be taken on a full or empty stomach.
* Usually taken by dissolving one capful in 8 ounces of water, juice, or tea.
* May take up to 4 days to start working.
* Can cause nausea, bloating, cramping, or gas.
* Don't use if there is a chance of blockage of the intestines.
* Don't use if you're allergic to polyethylene glycol.
* May cause chemical imbalances in the bloodstream if used too much or for too long a time.
