Beclamethasone (QVAR?,Beconase?)

COMMON USES:
Used to prevent wheezing, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties caused by severe asthma.

HOW IT?S SUPPLIED:
Oral inhalers with 40 or 80 micrograms and nasal inhalers with 42 micrograms delivered in each dose.

HOW IT WORKS:
A corticosteroid, this medicine works by reducing swelling in the airways.

THINGS TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR DOCTOR:
* This medicine is used to help prevent asthma and should not to be used to treat an asthma attack.
* Spray the inhalation aerosol into the air twice before you use it for the first time and when you have not used it for more than 7 days.
* After each treatment, rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash to help prevent hoarseness or a sore throat.
* High doses of steroids can suppress your immune system. When beclomethasone is used nasally, the chance of developing nose and throat infections increases.
