COMMON USES: Used to for the short-term treatment of motion sickness, nausea, and vomiting. Sometimes used as a sleep aid and for coughing.
HOW IT'S SUPPLIED: 12.5-, 25-, and 50- milligram tablets. 6.25 milligram per 5 milliliter syrup. 12.5-, 25-, and 50- milligram rectal suppositories.
HOW IT WORKS: This medicine prevents the brain from sending the nerve messages to the stomach that would normally cause vomiting. It also acts on receptors in the gut to decrease the amount of fluid secreted from the lining of the gut and decrease the actions of the gut muscles. This medicine also goes to the brain and can cause drowsiness.
THINGS TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR DOCTOR: * Can cause drowsiness, dry mouth, rash, dizziness, hyperactivity, blurred vision, blood pressure changes, and sunburn if exposed to sunlight. * If a child has a seizure disorder, this medicine may cause their seizures to happen more often. * Do not use in children with history of asthma or sleep apnea. * DO NOT USE in children less than 2 years old. * Syrup contains 7% alcohol.
