COMMON USES: Used in children with dystonia (A movement disorder with fluctuating increases in tone, unusual postures or positioning and/or tremors) to improve muscle control and decreases stiffness and tremors. Used to treat Parkinson?s disease in adults.
HOW IT'S SUPPLIED: 0.5-, 1-, or 2- milligram tablets
HOW IT WORKS: This drug is thought to decrease the effects of acetylcholine, a chemical in brain cells that triggers muscle contractions.
THINGS TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR DOCTOR: * Common side effects include dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, sensitivity to light, nausea/vomiting, drowsiness and decreased sweating. * May also cause rapid heat rate, dilated pupils, difficulty urinating, confusion, nervousness, depression, muscle cramps, eye pain, and/or numbness of the fingers. * Not to be used in children under 3 years of age. * Should not be used in children with glaucoma. * Tablets contain lactose.
