COMMON USES: This medicine is used for the short-term relief of nervousness, agitation, irritability, trouble falling asleep, and some seizures.
HOW IT?S SUPPLIED: 0.5, 1, and 2 milligram tablets 2 milligram per milliliter liquid
HOW IT WORKS: Although scientists don?t know exactly how it works, it is believed that this medicine increases the action of Gamma-AminoButyric Acid (GABA), a chemical in the brain that depresses brain activity.
THINGS TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR DOCTOR: * Can cause clumsiness, dizziness, sleepiness, unsteadiness, and/or weakness. * May also cause stomach cramps, blurred vision, confusion, seizures, dry mouth, forgetfulness, hallucinations, headache, memory loss, racing heartbeat, slurred speech, trouble breathing, or problems urinating. * If taken for long periods of time, your doctor should check blood counts and liver function tests periodically. * Tablets contain lactose. * Use with caution in children with liver or kidney disease. * Best taken on an empty stomach and with a full glass of water. * Do not stop suddenly if this medicine has been taken for several weeks as this may cause hallucinations, irritability, seizures and other complications.
