Lansoprazole (Prevacid?)

COMMON USES:
Most often used to help treat stomach ulcers and/or gastroesophageal reflux (GER).

HOW IT'S SUPPLIED:
15 and 30 milligram tablets.
15 and 30 milligram capsules.
15 milligrams/30 milliliter suspension.

HOW IT WORKS:
Reduces acid by blocking the stomach's acid-producing mechanism.

THINGS TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR DOCTOR:
* Approved for use in children aged 1-17 years.
* Usually taken once a day.
* May cause diarrhea, nausea, headache, constipation, dizziness, and/or stomach pain.
* Use with caution in children who have liver disease.
* Suspension is strawberry-flavored.
* Capsules should either be swallowed whole or should be opened and sprinkled onto a tablespoon of soft food like applesauce or pudding.
