Many parents do not realize that by law, a child with disabilities can have a school breakfast or lunch adapted to fit their special needs. Some of these changes could include a meal higher in calories, a special texture, or a calorie- controlled diet for weight reduction. This site, which is part of the Nutrition Services Branch of the North Carolina Department of Health, provides information on what steps to take in order to receive one of these special diet modifications at school.
