On Wednesday, July 27th, Wake County Smart Start, in collaboration with the Wake County Local Interagency Coordinating Council (LICC) and TelAbility/WATCH hosted a Family Forum via videoconference. Three WATCH sites (Pediatric Therapy Associates, Project Enlightenment and White Plains Children's Center) hosted families from around Wake County. Fifteen people participated in this event.
Smart Start facilitators at each site led small group discussions with the families at their locations. Questions centered around needs and resources for children birth through five. The families then met as a large group to share their thoughts. Some of the feedback included a desire to educate the medical/pediatric community about the early intervention system and child care community and the possibility of starting a "transition support group" for families transitioning from the CDSA into the Preschool Services Program.
We thank the facilitators, the host sites and the families for their involvement and willingness to participate in this sharing opportunity.
Families are welcome to share their input via an online survey by clicking the link below.
