The Exceptional Children's Assistance Center was awarded a grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to provide a Health Information Center for the state of North Carolina. With a special emphasis on children with special health care needs, the goal is to provide parents in NC with the health information they need to make good choices for their children. They want to promote regular medical care and empower parents with information about the benefits that are available for their children.
The Center offers health fact sheets, telephone support, a lending library, and workshops for families, support groups, and service providers. Some of the topics they can help with include: private and public health insurance information, Medicaid, CAP waiver programs, Medicare, NC CHIP, Medical Home and many other general topics. All services are provided at no cost.
