COMMON USES:
Used to treat runny nose and other allergy symptoms in children ages 2 years and older.

HOW IT'S SUPPLIED:
2.5 milligrams per 5 milliliter syrup
5 milligram tablets
2.5 and 5 milligram orally disintegrating tablets

HOW IT WORKS:
An antihistamine, this medicine decreases the body?s response to histamine (a chemical that causes itching, runny nose and red, itchy eyes).

THINGS TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR DOCTOR:
* Syrup is orange colored and tutti-frutti flavored.
* Tablets are pink.
* Side effects include dry mouth, cold symptoms, diarrhea, irritability, and coughing.
* May be useful in patients who don't respond well to ceterizine (Zyrtec?).
* May be used in patients as young as 1 year of age.
* Use with caution in patients with phenylkeonuria (PKU)
* Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver disease.
