COMMON USES:
Used as a laxative.

HOW IT'S SUPPLIED:
Liquid preparations from different manufactureres come in a wide variety of concentrations.

HOW IT WORKS:
Castor oil stimulates the intestine's nerves to make the gut move more quickly and to let more water in, which helps soften the stool.

THINGS TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR DOCTOR:
* Castor Oil usually starts to work 2 to 6 hours after taking.
* Do not use this drug if your child has bad stomach pain or might have impacted stools or intestinal obstruction.
* Possible side effects include diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, irritation around the rectum, abdominal cramps, weakness, dizziness, and fainting.
