Trihexyphenidyl Hydrocholoride (Artane ?)

COMMON USES:
* Used to treat movement disorders like dystonia and choreoathetosis.
* Used to treat drooling.

HOW IT'S SUPPLIED:
2- and 5-milligram tablets
2 milligram per 5 milliliter solution
Long acting capsule

HOW IT WORKS:
This medicine limits the activity of the body's parasympathetic nervous system to control movements and dry up secretions.

THINGS TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR DOCTOR:
* May cause drowsiness, dry mouth, constipaition, nervousness, dizziness, blurred vision, vomiting, diarrhea, increased eye sensitivity to light, decreased sweating, and/or difficulty urinating.
* Stopping ths medicine suddenly may cause worsening of a child?s movement disorder.
* Do not open the extended-release capsules or chew them. They must be swallowed whole.
* Use with caution in children with high blood pressure, liver or kidney disease.
* Use with caution with other medicines like Sinemet? and Haldol?
* Should be taken with food or milk to avoid stomach problems.
* Solution is lime-mint flavored and also contains Alcohol (5%), and Sorbitol.
