COMMON USES:
Treating Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
May also be used to treat narcolepsy(sleep attacks)

HOW IT?S SUPPLIED:
Adderall? comes in 5-, 10-, 20-, and 30-milligram tablets
Adderall XR? comes in 5-, 10-, 15-, 20-, 25-, and 30-milligram extended-release capsules
Dexedrine? comes in 5- and 10- milligram tablets.
Dexedrine? come in 5-, 10-, and 15-milligram sustained release capsules.
ProCentra? comes in a 5 milligram per 5 milliliter liquid (bubble-gum flavored)

HOW IT WORKS
Dextroamphetamine is a stimulant drug used to increase alertness.

THINGS TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR DOCTOR
* May cause increases in heart rate and blood pressure, loss of appetite, stomach pains, restlessness and/or difficulty falling asleep, rash and itching.
* Capsules may be swallowed whole or may be opened and sprinkled on applesauce.
* More likely to decrease appetite and cause weight loss than methylphenidate (Ritalin?)
* Not to be given to children with Tourette?s syndrome, muscle tics, heart disease, anxiety disorders or glaucoma.
* Should be used as part of a total treatment program for ADHD that may include behavior modification, educational interventions and therapies for children and families.
