Tizanidine (Zanaflex?)

COMMON USES:
Used to decrease spasticity and help prevent muscle spasms

HOW IT?S SUPPLIED:
2- or 4-milligram tablets

HOW IT WORKS:
Acts on the spinal cord nerves to relax overactive muscles.

THINGS TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR DOCTOR:
* Each dose last between 3 and 6 hours
* Can cause drowsiness, so your doctor may recommend starting at low doses and increasing the dose over time.
* May also cause dry mouth, light-headedness, dizziness, hallucinations, and/or trouble breathing.
* Use with caution in children with liver disease and monitor liver function tests while on this medication.
* May cause less muscle weakness than other anti-spasticity medications.
